A loan (or security) that ranks below other loans (or securities) with regard to claims on assets or earnings. Also known as “junior security” or “subordinated loan”.  financing and the remainder in equity provided by the Investor Group, and is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2003, subject to customary regulatory approvals. Following the transaction, Nalco will operate as an independent company.
